Ben & Jerry’s, one of the first major companies to expand into dairy-free territory, offers nine mouthwatering vegan flavors made with creamy almond milk, meaning that 20 percent of the company’s offerings are now dairy-free! Here’s a quick rundown of the company’s dairy-free flavors available at stores across America, Canada, and the U.K.:
Vegan ice cream removes the cholesterol issue and usually offers lower saturated fat levels. However, the sugar content tends to remain high. The only truly healthy ice cream is “nice cream.” It’s totally vegan, made just from frozen bananas, and thus contains no “nasties.” On its own, the blitzed fruit offers potassium and fiber.
Caramel! Action! directed by Ava DuVernay is Ben and Jerry’s newest ice cream flavor. It has a vanilla ice cream base, with salted caramel swirls, graham crackers, and chocolate chip cookie dough. The flavor will be available in both dairy and non-dairy (FYI, all of the non-dairy options from Ben and Jerry’s are also vegan!).
Ben & Jerry’s is launching a vegan Americone Dream ice cream inspired by celebrity TV host Stephen Colbert. The dairy-free product features vanilla ice cream with ‘fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel swirl’. Moreover, the new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream retails between $4.39-$5.99 per pint and is available nationwide in the US.
