the 70-200 vrII is faster auto focusing than the 300 pf and is a better lens for sports. It gives you more flexibility with its zoom range. It also offers a little more DOF versatility with its 2.8 max ap. Even with the 1.4 tele the 300pf is lighter and shorter than the 70-200.

If youâve ever photographed with any of Nikonâs earlier 400mm f/2.8 lenses, youâll probably appreciate the relatively light weight of the new Z-mount version. At about three kilograms / 6.5 pounds, it is still not particularly portable, but itâs 850g / 2 pounds less than the prior Nikon 400mm f/2.8 E AF-S FL ED VR.

The 70-200 VR II doesn't even have the function buttons. If the lack of Arca compatibility is a negative, then all of Nikon's lenses have the same con. All in all Nikon is easily the overall best & sharpest 70-200 on the market with high build quality and very fast AF i am really looking forward for next year bird season +D850 on this lens.
I just received my Nikon 70-200 f2.8 z lens and I was wondering if folks can provide a suggestion in terms of lens cases to fit the lens, hood, and RRS foot. I had been using the Lowepro 11 x 26cm lens case for my 70-200 f2.8 vr ii, but this old case doesn't fit the Nikon 70-200 f2.8 z; it's a little bit too short and not quite wide enough to
Next-best is a plate with a flat rubber surface like the plain 200PL. The "pro" plate that comes with the head looks completely inappropriate to use with the 70-200's tripod foot. It's made to attach to the large, flat bottom of a camera body, not a lens tripod foot. When using a plate with a single screw, choose whichever socket on the foot
At f2.8 itâs great on the the 12MP 5D, acceptable on the 5DIII and a bit rough around the edges on the 5DSR. The Nikon f2.8E FL is very sharp from f2.8 on both a Z6 (24MP) and a D4 (just 16MP). Focusing of course is faster on the newer Nikon lens which is an advantage for sport action and servo focus.
70-200mm f/2.8 telephoto zoom lens; compatible with Nikon FX or DX digital SLR cameras. 105-300mm effective focal length with DX sensor cameras; f/2.8 maximum aperture stays constant throughout the zoom range; built-in Vibration Reduction with tripod detection enables sharper shots at slower shutter speeds (up to four shutter speeds slower)
